Take a magical topiary Safari through Uptown Greenwood. You’ll see a 14-foot giraffe, a lion, an elephant and a monkey perched precariously over an open-mouthed alligator. And no safari is complete without a 5-foot-tall custom safari vehicle and an almost 6-foot Fuji Quick Snap Camera.
In all, 19 topiaries will be displayed around the square in Uptown Greenwood during the month of June as the S.C. Festival of Flowers launches “Safari,” a topiary flower display based on Walt Disney World’s “Festival of Flowers” showcased each year at Epcot.
The whimsical horticultural creations of this “Safari” will be used annually to showcase the Uptown Greenwood area, adding a new dimension to the renovations already underway. Each topiary has been adopted by an organization responsible for the design, creation and maintenance and is sponsored by a separate organization.
