One of the new events for the 2009 Festival of Flowers is Worship with Flowers, a lecture/demonstration by local floral designer, Brian Benjamin. It will be held in Bishops’ Hall at Church of the Resurrection on Saturday morning, June 27 at 10 o’clock.

Following the introduction, Brian will discuss practical considerations in floral design for worship services, floral possibilities for the chancel and the altar, and floral colors as liturgical symbols. He will highlight one season in the liturgical year by demonstrating an appropriate arrangement. At the conclusion of the event, participants will tour the chancels of three downtown churches to view floral arrangements for the following Sunday morning services. Churches on this tour include Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, First Presbyterian Church and Main Street United Methodist Church.

Tickets for this event are $10 and will be available at the Chamber of Commerce. Get yours early as sales will be limited to 75. We are delighted to offer this new event and anticipate it being a popular festival event.
